Kindred character creation step-by-step

Note:  Kindred characters may be Camarilla, Anarch, Sabbat, Independent, or Autarkis. Allowable clans/bloodlines right now are the usual Brujah, Gangrel, Malkavian, Toreador, Lasombra, Tzimisce, Nosferatu, Tremere and Ventrue (and of course Caitiff). I’m also allowing Assamites, Followers of Set, Gargoyles, Giovanni and Kiasyd. Antitribu are also allowed, but keep in mind whether or not I approve a character for play is mainly based on how interesting they are, if they’ve kept to the character creation rules, and if they’ve obviously been well thought and fleshed out (not saying I’m expecting a five page biography on every detail of your character’s life up to this point, but I should at least be able to read their background and get a good feel for your character and how they can possibly enrich the story. “I’m a Lasombra antitribu because I think it would be cool to play and I’ve only put two sentences in their background.” Isn’t going to cut it.  This also applies if you want to make a character from a clan or bloodline not listed above. I might allow it, but run the idea and/or profile by me first.

This is purely a VTM game, so no changing breeds, mages, changelings, ect, characters are allowed. Only Kindred, Ghouls, and Mortals. Note that any mortal character (my own character is going to be an example of this) who has supernatural abilities is going to just be assumed to be a psychic. Your character is free to think of her as a mage or other type of supernatural, but as I’m not familiar with that setting I’m not operating her (or other psychic human characters if they come about) by those mechanics…she’ll have her own limits and weaknesses clearly stated in her profile.

Kindred characters can either be residents of December City who weren’t involved in the bombing (or at least, weren’t victims of said bombing), or new ones moving in to take advantage of the power vacuum.

The premise of the game is especially suited for ancilla/elder characters to move in to claim the city, so those are allowed in addition to the usual neonates. While I don't want 10 elders running around and only 1 neonate, the same caveat of a well-written, thought out character applies when it comes to getting them approved. Ancilla and elder characters have their greater experience reflected by having extra points depending on their age. Generation is capped at 8 and Disciplines are capped at 5. No attribute can start out above 4. For ancilla/elder characters additional disciplines may be 'unlocked' for a flat rate of 10 freebie points per (if you didn't take the additional discipline merit). Exotic disciplines like Thaumaturgy (for non-Tremere) aren't allowed. Once 'unlocked' additional dots are purchased as normal, and I expect to have it mentioned how the discipline was learned in your backstory...don't just have your Toreador know Obtenebration 'just because'. I'm assuming Tremere characters start out with path of blood, older Tremere may purchase additional paths of Thaumaturgy at a cost of 5 per path (run which path by me first though).

Ability points: 13/9/5 (start at 0 and none can be higher than 3 before the use of freebie points)

1) Choose Concept

2) Choose Nature/Demeanor

3) Fill out your basic info....name, age, clan, sect, ect. This includes what they look like)

4) Allocate your character creation points (Attributes/Abilities/Advantages)

5) Choose merits and flaws (if using)

6) Spend Freebie Points (each blank profile will provide a space where you can show your total number of freebie points and what you chose to spend them on...I WILL check and tally the math XD )

7) Flesh the character out...give us an idea of your character's basic personality, any quirks they might have, and their history. This doesn't have to be a 10 page biography, but a basic overview of who they were and are now.

NOTE: Not required, but I DO encourage players to search online and find a photo or picture that can serve as what your character looks like. This is a great tool for other players to picture your character, and it can be attached or linked to in your character profile once approved.

Either post your profile in the submitted character thread, PM it to me, or e-mail it to me at margi.fisher@aol.com. I'll let you know if any changes/tweaks are needed if necessary, and when I give you approval, post the profile in the approved character profile thread.
